Product Description
M12 x 1.5 Metric Fine 10.9 Grade Self Colour Steel Hexagon Head Bolts
These M12 metric fine hexagon head bolts are manufactured from high-tensile property class 10.9 steel and supplied with an unplated self-colour finish. The M12 x 1.5mm fine-pitch thread provides finer adjustment and a larger stress area than the standard M12 x 1.75mm coarse thread.
Each bolt is partially threaded, leaving a plain 12mm diameter shank beneath the head. The unthreaded section can pass through the joined components, making these bolts suitable for accurately located assemblies and applications exposed to shear or sideways loading.

Overall length is measured from beneath the hexagon head to the end of the bolt. Dimensions are approximate and should be confirmed before use in dimension-critical applications.
10.9 high-tensile steel
Property class 10.9 provides substantially higher strength than commonly used 8.8 grade fasteners. These bolts are intended for demanding engineering and mechanical assemblies where an appropriately specified high-tensile fastener is required.
Always use compatible metric fine nuts with a suitable property class. Tightening torque depends on lubrication, joint design, mating materials and operating conditions, so the correct value should be obtained from the equipment manufacturer or project specification.
Self-colour finish
Self-colour steel is unplated and does not provide the corrosion resistance associated with zinc plating or stainless steel. A light protective oil may be present, but additional lubrication, paint or another suitable protective treatment is recommended when the bolts will be exposed to moisture or corrosive conditions.
Standards information
The listed 19mm across-flats head, 7.5mm head height, M12 x 1.5mm thread and 30mm threaded length correspond to the established DIN 960 dimensional pattern for partially threaded metric fine hexagon bolts.
DIN 960:1990-01 is now withdrawn. The international product standard for metric fine hexagon head bolts is isISO 8765:2022. Current ISO editions can use revised dimensional requirements, so these bolts should be described as DIN 960 pattern rather than certified to the current ISO standard unless conformity has been confirmed by the manufacturer.
The former British adoption BS EN ISO 8765:2011 was withdrawn in August 2022. No verified current British product standard is therefore assigned to these particular DIN-pattern bolts. The current BS 3643-2:2007 applies to limits and tolerances for ISO metric threads, including fine-pitch threads, but it is a thread standard rather than a complete bolt product standard.
Typical applications
- Automotive and motorsport assemblies
- Machinery and industrial equipment
- Gearboxes, engines and transmission components
- Hydraulic and mechanical equipment
- Fabrication and engineering projects
- Assemblies requiring a locating shank
Important fitting information
These bolts have an M12 x 1.5mm fine thread and are not compatible with standard M12 x 1.75mm coarse-thread nuts or tapped holes. Check the required pitch before ordering and use a correctly fitting 19mm spanner or socket during installation.
Choose from packs of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 250, 500 or 1,000 bolts.
