Product Description
4.8mm Aluminium/Steel Black Dome Head Pop Rivets
These 4.8mm black pop rivets combine a lightweight aluminium rivet body with a zinc-plated steel break-pull mandrel. The black finish provides a discreet appearance on dark panels, enclosures, vehicle trim and fabricated components.
The standard dome or protruding head provides a broad bearing surface against the workpiece. As open-end blind rivets, they can be installed from one side of the assembly, making them suitable for joining panels where the rear of the workpiece cannot be reached.

The grip range is the combined thickness of the materials being joined, not the rivet body length. Dimensions are supplied as a guide and should be confirmed before use in a critical application.
Choosing the correct rivet
Measure the total thickness of every material layer being joined and select a rivet whose stated grip range includes that measurement. A rivet that is too short may not form a secure blind-side head, while an excessively long rivet may not clamp the joint correctly.
Drill a clean, correctly aligned hole of approximately 4.9mm, remove any burrs and ensure the sheets are held firmly together before setting the rivet.
Standards information
The current dimensional and mechanical standard applicable to an open-end blind rivet with an aluminium-alloy body, steel break-pull mandrel and protruding head is ISO 15977:2002. The corresponding British adoption is BS EN ISO 15977:2002.
The older general blind-rivet standard DIN 7337 has been withdrawn and replaced by material- and head-specific ISO standards. These products may therefore be described as the type covered by ISO 15977, but formal conformity should not be claimed unless confirmed by the manufacturer or supporting certification.
Typical applications
- Black sheet-metal panels and enclosures
- Automotive trim, body panels and accessories
- Trailers, caravans and commercial vehicles
- Signs, displays and exhibition equipment
- Heating, ventilation and ductwork
- General fabrication and repair work
Installation guidance
- Measure the combined material thickness and select the appropriate grip range.
- Drill an approximately 4.9mm hole through the materials.
- Remove swarf and burrs, then align and clamp the components.
- Insert the rivet fully so the head sits flat against the front surface.
- Fit the mandrel into a suitable 4.8mm rivet tool and operate it until the mandrel breaks.
- Check that the rivet head is seated securely and that the joint is firmly clamped.
Choose from packs of 10, 20, 50, 100, 250, 500 or 1,000 rivets.
