Choosing the Correct Allen Key
The key size refers to the socket's across-flats measurement, not the screw's thread diameter. Socket cap screws, countersunk screws, button head screws and grub screws can require different key sizes even when their threads are the same diameter.
Use the exact imperial size required and fully seat the key before applying torque. A similarly sized metric key may not fit correctly and can damage the socket.
