Product Description
5/16"-24 UNF A2 stainless steel socket button-head machine screws with a fully threaded shank and internal hexagon drive, available in 1/2", 1" and 1 1/2" lengths.
These imperial Allen screws feature a broad, low-profile rounded button head that provides a smooth finished appearance with less projection than a conventional socket cap screw. They are suitable for machinery, guards, brackets, panels, automotive components and general engineering assemblies.

These 5/16" UNF socket button-head screws are suitable for machinery, automotive components, motorsport, guards, panels, brackets, electrical equipment, furniture, fabrication and general engineering applications.
The 24 TPI Unified National Fine thread has a finer pitch than the equivalent 5/16"-18 UNC thread. Fine threads provide increased thread engagement per unit of length and allow finer adjustment of clamping force. The mating nut, threaded insert or tapped hole must have the corresponding 5/16"-24 UNF thread.
The fully threaded design provides thread engagement along the usable length of the screw, making it suitable for assemblies with varying material thicknesses or where maximum thread engagement is required.
The broad rounded button head provides a lower-profile appearance than a conventional cylindrical socket cap head. This reduces head projection and gives a smoother finish, although button-head screws generally have a smaller drive recess and lower maximum tightening capacity than equivalent standard socket cap screws.
The internal hexagon drive is operated using a 3/16" Allen key or hex socket bit. Use a correctly sized, good-quality tool fully inserted into the recess to reduce the risk of rounding or damaging the socket.
A2 stainless steel provides good resistance to general atmospheric corrosion and is suitable for many indoor and outdoor applications. For marine, coastal, swimming-pool or highly corrosive environments, A4 stainless steel may be more appropriate.
Stainless steel fasteners can be susceptible to thread galling, particularly when installed rapidly, overtightened or assembled without lubrication. Where appropriate, use a compatible anti-seize compound, keep mating threads clean and tighten at a controlled speed.
Button-head screw length is measured from directly beneath the head to the end of the screw. The rounded head is not included in the stated length.
Please note: ASME B18.3 is used as the dimensional reference for this inch-series socket button-head pattern. The product dimensional table also contains a 3/4" length, but this size is not currently displayed in the selectable length options.
