M24 × 3.0mm property class 8.8 zinc-plated steel hexagon-head bolts, part threaded with a plain shank and manufactured to the traditional DIN 931 / current ISO 4014 dimensional pattern.
These large-diameter high-tensile metric bolts feature a conventional external hexagon head, a threaded end section and a substantial plain shank beneath the head. They are suitable for heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, structural brackets, commercial vehicles, steel fabrication, plant maintenance and demanding general engineering assemblies.

These M24 hexagon-head bolts are suitable for heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, commercial vehicles, structural brackets, plant installations, steel fabrication, workshop repairs and general engineering applications.
The standard M24 × 3.0mm metric coarse thread must be used with a corresponding M24 × 3.0mm nut, threaded insert or tapped hole. It is not interchangeable with M24 metric fine threads such as M24 × 2.0mm or M24 × 1.5mm.
The part-threaded construction provides a plain shank beneath the head and a threaded section at the end of the bolt. When correctly positioned through clearance holes, the unthreaded shank can improve alignment and provide a more suitable bearing surface across shear planes than a fully threaded set screw.
The product table gives an approximately 54mm threaded section for the listed 90mm and 130mm bolts. Their corresponding plain-shank lengths are approximately 36mm and 76mm. The same nominal thread length has been applied to the 80mm and 120mm selector options, producing calculated shank lengths of approximately 26mm and 66mm.
Select a bolt length that positions the plain shank through the joined components without allowing the unthreaded section to interfere with the nut or tapped hole. Sufficient thread engagement must remain for the intended joint and loading.
Property class 8.8 is a high-tensile steel fastener grade with a nominal tensile strength of approximately 800 N/mm². The second figure indicates a nominal yield-strength ratio of 0.8, giving a nominal yield strength of approximately 640 N/mm².
The bolt should be paired with a suitably rated M24 nut and appropriate washer system. Correct tightening torque depends on lubrication, thread condition, joint design, mating materials, washer arrangement and required clamp load.
The external hexagon head is installed using a correctly fitting 36mm spanner or socket. Ensure the tool is seated fully across the flats before applying torque to reduce the risk of rounding or damaging the head.
The zinc-plated finish provides improved corrosion resistance compared with untreated self-colour steel and is suitable for many indoor and sheltered outdoor applications. It is not normally recommended for prolonged exposure to marine, coastal or highly corrosive environments.
Hexagon bolt length is measured from directly beneath the head to the end of the bolt. The external hexagon head is not included in the stated length.
Please note: DIN 931 is the traditional designation for metric hexagon-head bolts with a plain shank. ISO 4014 is the corresponding current international dimensional standard, with BS EN ISO 4014 being the British adoption.
