Product Description
M5 A2 Stainless Steel Socket Cap Bolts With Shank
M5 socket head cap bolts manufactured from corrosion-resistant A2 stainless steel. These part-threaded fasteners have an internal hexagon drive and an unthreaded shank, making them suitable for machinery, equipment and general engineering assemblies where a compact cylindrical head is required.
- Thread size: M5 × 0.8
- Thread type: Standard metric coarse
- Material: A2 stainless steel
- Head style: Cylindrical socket head
- Drive: Internal hexagon
- Hex key size: 4mm
- Nominal head diameter: Approximately 8.5mm maximum
- Nominal head height: 5mm
- Thread length: 22mm
- Construction: Part threaded with an unthreaded shank
- Available lengths: 30mm, 35mm, 40mm and 50mm
- Standard: DIN 912 / BS EN ISO 4762
These bolts have a standard M5 × 0.8 coarse thread and must be used with a matching M5 × 0.8 nut or tapped hole. They are not interchangeable with M5 fine-pitch or imperial threads.
Shank lengths are calculated by subtracting the listed 22mm thread length from the nominal overall length. Confirm critical dimensions before specifying these bolts for precision assemblies.
A2 Stainless Steel
A2 stainless steel offers good corrosion resistance for many indoor, outdoor and general engineering applications. For marine environments or regular exposure to salt and chlorides, A4 stainless steel will usually provide better corrosion resistance.
A2 identifies the stainless-steel material group. It does not by itself specify a mechanical property class such as A2-70 or A2-80.
Preventing Thread Galling
Stainless steel threads can gall or seize during installation. Clean mating threads, suitable anti-seize lubricant, controlled installation speed and avoiding excessive tightening can help reduce this risk.
