Product Description
M10 x 100mm Grade 8.8 Self-Colour Hexagon Head Bolts – DIN 931
These M10 hexagon-head bolts are manufactured from grade 8.8 high-tensile steel with a self-colour, unplated finish. They are partially threaded to DIN 931, leaving a 74mm nominal unthreaded shank between the thread and the underside of the head.
The unthreaded shank provides accurate component location and allows shear loads to pass through the solid bolt body rather than the threaded section. Each bolt has a standard M10 coarse metric thread with a 1.5mm pitch and a 17mm hexagon head.
Bolt length is measured from directly beneath the hexagon head to the end of the bolt. Nuts and washers are not included unless stated separately.
Typical Applications
- General engineering and fabrication
- Machinery and equipment assembly
- Automotive and agricultural repairs
- Steel frameworks and brackets
- Jigs, fixtures and workshop equipment
- Applications requiring an unthreaded locating shank

Grade 8.8 is a widely used high-tensile property class suitable for general engineering and machinery applications. For critical joints, use compatible property-class nuts and suitable hardened washers.
The self-colour finish has no protective zinc or galvanised coating and may develop surface rust when exposed to moisture. Apply oil, paint or another suitable protective coating when corrosion resistance is required.
For safety-critical assemblies, follow the equipment manufacturer's specified tightening procedure. Required torque varies according to lubrication, joint design, nut type and the condition of the threads.
