Product Description
M12 A4-80 Stainless Steel Part-Thread Hexagon Bolts – DIN 931
M12 metric A4-80 high-tensile stainless steel part-threaded hexagon head bolts manufactured to DIN 931, with a standard 1.75mm metric coarse thread. These bolts feature a plain shank between the head and threaded section, making them particularly suitable where accurate component alignment and shear support are required.
A4 is a molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel commonly known as marine-grade stainless. It offers improved resistance to corrosion and chloride-containing environments compared with A2 stainless steel. Property class A4-80 provides a minimum tensile strength of 800 N/mm² (800 MPa).

Bolt length is measured from beneath the hexagon head to the end of the fastener. Plain shank lengths are nominal and exclude manufacturing tolerances and the thread runout.
Typical Applications
- Marine and coastal equipment
- Outdoor machinery and structures
- Automotive and general engineering assemblies
- Chemical and process equipment
- High-strength, corrosion-resistant joints
- Assemblies requiring an unthreaded shank through the components
Select a bolt length that positions the plain shank through the joined components while leaving sufficient thread for correct nut engagement. For best corrosion performance, use compatible M12 × 1.75 A4 stainless steel nuts and washers.
Stainless steel threads can be susceptible to galling. Using a suitable anti-seize compound and a controlled assembly speed may help reduce this risk. The appropriate tightening torque must be determined from the joint design, lubrication and operating conditions.
