<p>These traditional No.4 wood screws are manufactured from solid brass rather than brass-plated steel. Their small diameter, raised round head and conventional slotted drive make them suitable for detailed joinery, cabinet hardware, furniture and restoration projects.</p>

<h3>Installation Guidance</h3>

<p>Brass is softer than steel, so a correctly sized pilot hole should be drilled before installation. This is especially important when working with hardwood, seasoned timber or close to the edge of a component.</p>

<p>Where appropriate, a similar-sized steel screw can first be used to form the thread in the pilot hole. Remove the steel screw before carefully installing the solid-brass screw with a correctly fitting flat-bladed screwdriver.</p>

<p>Avoid excessive tightening and powered impact drivers, as these may damage the slot or fracture the brass screw. A screwdriver blade that closely matches the width and depth of the slot will reduce marking and provide the neatest finished appearance.</p>
