M10 Metric Fine 10.9 Grade Self Colour Hexagon Head Set Screws
These M10 metric-fine hexagon-head set screws are manufactured from high-tensile steel and supplied with a self-colour, unplated finish. Their fully threaded design is suitable for assemblies requiring a property class 10.9 fastener with either an M10 x 1mm or M10 x 1.25mm fine thread.
In UK fastener terminology, a set screw is a fully threaded hexagon-head fastener. It should not be confused with a headless socket or slotted set screw, commonly called a grub screw.

DIN, ISO and British Standards Information
DIN 961 is the traditional designation for fully threaded hexagon-head screws with metric fine threads. DIN 961 has been withdrawn and replaced by the corresponding international specification ISO 8676, adopted in Britain as BS EN ISO 8676.
Property Class 10.9
Property class 10.9 identifies a high-tensile carbon or alloy steel fastener. Mechanical requirements for property-class bolts and screws with metric coarse and fine threads are specified by ISO 898-1. Suitability for any safety-critical application should be confirmed against the relevant design requirements and supporting product certification.
Self Colour Finish
Self colour means the steel is supplied without a protective zinc-plated or galvanised coating. The finish may vary in shade and can include traces of manufacturing or storage oil.
Unplated steel can corrode when exposed to moisture. Suitable protective oil, coating or controlled storage should be considered where corrosion resistance is required.

Installation Guidance
Check whether the mating component requires M10 x 1mm or M10 x 1.25mm before installation. Start the fastener by hand to prevent cross-threading and use a correctly fitting socket or spanner. Tightening torque must be selected for the specific pitch, joint materials, lubrication, finish and application.
Do not apply a general M10 coarse-thread torque figure to these fine-thread fasteners. Where the joint is safety-critical, obtain the correct torque value from the equipment manufacturer or responsible engineer.
