Product Description
M8 x 1 Metric Fine 10.9 Grade Self Colour Hexagon Head Set Screws
These M8 x 1 metric-fine hexagon-head set screws are manufactured from high-tensile steel and supplied with a self-colour, unplated finish. Their fully threaded design is suitable for engineering assemblies requiring a property class 10.9 fastener with an M8 x 1mm fine thread.
Product Features
- M8 metric fine thread
- 1mm thread pitch
- Property class 10.9 high-tensile steel
- Self-colour, unplated finish
- Fully threaded to beneath the head
- External hexagon head
- Traditional DIN 961 product pattern
- Current corresponding standard: ISO 8676
- British adoption: BS EN ISO 8676
- Available in 20mm, 25mm, 30mm and 35mm lengths
- Available in packs from 1 to 100
Important: M8 metric coarse thread normally has a 1.25mm pitch. These M8 x 1mm fine-thread fasteners are not interchangeable with M8 coarse-thread nuts or tapped holes. Always confirm the required thread pitch before ordering.
Length measurement: The stated length is measured from beneath the hexagon head to the end of the threaded fastener.
DIN, ISO and British Standards Information
DIN 961 is the traditional designation for fully threaded hexagon-head screws with metric fine threads. DIN 961 has been withdrawn and replaced by the corresponding international specification ISO 8676, adopted in Britain as BS EN ISO 8676.
Property Class 10.9
Property class 10.9 identifies a high-tensile carbon or alloy steel fastener. Mechanical requirements for property-class bolts and screws with metric coarse and fine threads are specified by ISO 898-1.
Suitability for safety-critical or highly loaded applications should be confirmed against the equipment manufacturer's requirements and any necessary material or product certification.
Self Colour Finish
Self colour means the steel is supplied without a protective zinc-plated or galvanised coating. The finish may vary in shade and can include traces of manufacturing or storage oil.
Unplated steel can corrode when exposed to moisture. Suitable protective oil, coating or controlled storage should be considered where corrosion resistance is required.
Typical Applications
- Automotive and motorsport assemblies
- Industrial machinery and equipment
- Engineering repairs and maintenance
- Fine-threaded adjustment assemblies
- Replacement of matching DIN-pattern fasteners
- Applications requiring a property class 10.9 fastener
Installation Guidance
Confirm that the mating component has an M8 x 1mm thread before installation. Start the fastener by hand to prevent cross-threading and use a correctly fitting socket or spanner.
Tightening torque must be selected for the specific thread pitch, joint materials, finish, lubrication and application. Do not apply a general M8 coarse-thread torque figure to this fine-thread fastener. Where the joint is safety-critical, obtain the correct torque value from the equipment manufacturer or responsible engineer.
