Product Description
3/8" A2 Stainless Steel Split Cotter Pins – DIN 94
3/8" split cotter pins manufactured from corrosion-resistant A2 stainless steel. These substantial retaining pins are inserted through a drilled hole before the two legs are bent apart to prevent accidental withdrawal.
Suitable for securing larger castellated nuts, clevis pins, shafts and mechanical components. The 3/8" diameter corresponds closely to the listed 10mm metric size, with lengths available from 2" to 4".

Length is measured along the straight section of the pin from beneath the eye to the end of the shorter leg. Imperial descriptions and listed metric lengths are nominal catalogue sizes.
How Split Pins Work
Insert the closed legs through the correctly sized cross-hole in the pin, shaft or threaded fastener. Once fully inserted, bend the two legs apart to lock the split pin in position and prevent it from working loose.
Split pins provide an economical mechanical locking method and allow the installation to be checked visually.
Typical Applications
- Securing larger castellated and slotted nuts
- Retaining clevis pins and pivot pins
- Agricultural and construction machinery
- Trailers and heavy vehicle equipment
- Linkages, shafts and control mechanisms
- Marine and outdoor equipment
- General engineering and repair work
Installation Advice
Select a pin diameter that fits freely through the cross-hole without excessive clearance. After inserting the pin fully, bend the legs apart around the component using suitable pliers.
Split pins can become weakened after their legs have been bent and straightened. For dependable retention, fit a new pin whenever an assembly is dismantled rather than reusing a previously installed one.
