No.6 Type B Non-Pointed Pan Pozi BZP Self Tapping Screws
These No.6 Type B self tapping screws feature a blunt, non-pointed end, a rounded pan head and an internal Pozi drive. They are manufactured from steel with a bright zinc plated finish for general indoor fastening and assembly applications.
The Type B thread is designed to form a mating thread when installed into a correctly sized pre-drilled hole. Its blunt tip makes it particularly useful for blind holes and applications where a sharp point is unnecessary or undesirable.
The screws have an approximate thread diameter of 3.5mm and are available in lengths from 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch, with pack quantities ranging from 10 to 1,000.

Screw length is measured from beneath the pan head to the blunt end of the screw.
Type B Blunt Point
Unlike a conventional pointed Type AB self tapping screw, a Type B screw has a blunt, tapered end and a more uniform spaced thread. It must be installed into an existing pilot hole rather than driven directly into solid material.
As the screw is installed, the Type B thread forms a corresponding internal thread in a suitable material. This makes it useful for repeatable assembly work involving sheet metal, aluminium castings, non-ferrous materials and suitable engineering plastics.
These are self tapping screws but are not self drilling screws. They do not have an integral drill point and cannot create their own starting hole in solid sheet material.
Bright Zinc Plated Steel
The bright zinc plated finish provides a clean metallic appearance and a basic level of corrosion protection for dry indoor and sheltered applications.
Bright zinc plating is not intended for prolonged exposure to marine, coastal, highly humid or chemically aggressive environments. A suitable stainless steel or specialist coated fastener should be considered for these conditions.

Pilot Hole and Installation Advice
A correctly sized pilot hole is essential because the screw has a blunt point and cannot drill its own starting hole. A pilot hole of approximately 2.9mm may be suitable as an initial reference, but the required diameter depends on the material, hardness, thickness and required thread engagement.
Use a correctly fitting PZ2 driver and keep the tool aligned with the recess. Drive the screw at a controlled speed and avoid overtightening, particularly in plastics or thin sheet material where the formed thread can be stripped.
Pozi and Phillips recesses are different. A PZ2 Pozi driver is recommended to achieve proper engagement and reduce the likelihood of cam-out or damage to the screw head.
