BSPT carbon steel taps available individually or as a 1st and 2nd tap set. These pipe thread taps are suitable for BSPT British Standard Pipe Taper threads and are mainly used for cleaning, chasing and repairing existing internal pipe threads.
Choose from BSPT taper pipe thread sizes including 1/8" x 28, 1/4" x 19, 3/8" x 19, 1/2" x 14, 3/4" x 14, 1" x 11, 1 1/4" x 11, 1 1/2" x 11 and 2" x 11. Options include 1st taper, 2nd bottoming or a set of both taps.
The 1st taper tap is used to start and guide the thread, while the 2nd bottoming tap is used where the thread needs to be finished closer to the bottom of a hole or fitting. Carbon steel taps are a practical choice for workshop, engineering, automotive, plumbing-related, hydraulic, pneumatic, repair and maintenance use when cleaning out damaged or dirty BSPT taper pipe threads.
For cutting new threads, especially in tougher materials or regular production work, high speed steel taps are recommended. BSPT taper pipe thread dimensions are commonly referenced to BS EN 10226-1 / ISO 7-1.
