Product Description
No.6 A2 stainless steel hexagon-head self-tapping screws manufactured to DIN 7976, available in imperial lengths from 1/2" to 1 1/4".
These Type AB self-tapping screws feature an external hexagon head and sharp self-tapping point. The thread forms a mating thread as the screw is installed into a correctly sized pilot hole in suitable sheet metal, plastics and other compatible materials.

Hexagon-head self-tapping screws are commonly used for securing sheet-metal panels, small brackets, covers, electrical equipment, appliance components, automotive trim, machinery and general engineering assemblies.
The external hexagon head allows installation using a correctly sized socket or nut spinner. This provides positive tool engagement and can offer better torque transmission than conventional slotted or cross-recessed drives.
Type AB self-tapping screws combine a relatively fine tapping thread with a sharp point. They form a mating thread as they are driven into a correctly sized pilot hole in suitable sheet metal, plastics and other compatible materials.
A2 stainless steel provides good general corrosion resistance for indoor and outdoor applications. For marine, coastal, swimming-pool or highly corrosive environments, A4 stainless steel may be more suitable.
These screws are self-tapping rather than self-drilling. A correctly sized pilot hole is normally required, particularly when installing into steel, stainless steel or other hard materials.
For hexagon-head screws, the length is measured from beneath the head to the end of the point.
