These compact high-tensile metric screws feature a cylindrical socket cap head and an internal 2mm hexagon drive. These M2.5 socket cap screws are suitable for precision machinery, robotics, electronics, instrumentation, model engineering, tooling, small brackets, mechanical assemblies and equipment repairs.
The standard M2.5 × 0.45mm metric coarse thread must be used with a corresponding M2.5 nut, threaded insert or tapped hole. It is not interchangeable with M2, M3 or non-metric thread forms.
The fully threaded construction provides thread engagement along the usable length beneath the head. This is useful in assemblies with thin components or where the screw must engage deeply into a threaded hole without requiring a plain shank.
Property class 12.9 is a high-strength alloy-steel grade intended for demanding mechanical applications. Correct tightening torque depends on the joint design, thread condition, lubrication, mating material and required clamp load. Published torque figures should not be applied without checking the specific assembly requirements.
The cylindrical socket cap head allows higher tool engagement than many low-profile screw-head designs. Installation requires a correctly sized 2mm Allen key or hex socket bit, fully inserted into the recess to reduce the risk of rounding the drive.
The self-colour finish means the screws are supplied without a protective zinc coating. A dark or blackened surface appearance may be present, but this should not be treated as substantial corrosion protection.
These screws should be kept dry and may require oil, grease, paint or another suitable protective treatment when used in damp, exterior or corrosive conditions. Zinc-plated or stainless steel fasteners may be more suitable where corrosion resistance is a primary requirement.
Socket cap screw length is measured from directly beneath the head to the end of the screw. The cylindrical head is not included in the stated length.

ISO 4762 is the current international dimensional reference, with BS EN ISO 4762 being the corresponding British adoption. The dimensional table currently shows rows up to 12mm, while the selector also offers 14mm, 16mm, 18mm and 20mm lengths.
