Product Description
No.14 Zinc-Plated Hexagon Head Self-Tapping Screws
These No.14 hexagon head self-tapping screws are manufactured from steel with a zinc-plated finish for general-purpose corrosion resistance. The coarse self-tapping thread forms a mating thread when driven into a correctly sized pilot hole, removing the need for a separate nut or pre-tapped internal thread.
The external hexagon head allows installation with a socket, spanner or nut driver and is well suited to applications where a positive drive and higher installation torque are required. These screws have a pointed Type AB thread form, commonly designated Type C under DIN and ISO standards.

Installation Guidance
Prepare a suitable pilot hole before installation. The correct hole diameter depends on the material, its thickness and the required thread engagement, so the reference hole dimension should be treated as a guide. Avoid excessive tightening, particularly in thin sheet, as this can strip the formed thread or deform the material.
These are thread-forming self-tapping screws and should not be confused with self-drilling screws. A pilot hole is normally required, particularly when fastening into steel or other hard materials.
