M12 Metric Fine Grade 8.8 Yellow Zinc Hexagon Head Set Screws
Fully threaded M12 hexagon head set screws manufactured from property class 8.8 high-tensile steel with a yellow zinc-plated finish. Available with either an M12 x 1.5 metric fine thread or an M12 x 1.25 metric extra-fine thread.
These DIN 961-pattern fasteners combine a conventional external hexagon head with a thread extending along the usable shank. Available lengths range from 20mm to 60mm, with pack quantities from 1 to 1,000.

Fastener length is measured from beneath the hexagon head to the end of the threaded section. Head dimensions are nominal and should be confirmed if they are critical to the assembly.

Yellow Zinc-Plated Finish
The yellow zinc-plated finish provides greater resistance to surface corrosion than untreated steel and gives the fastener its characteristic yellow or gold appearance. Colour and shade can vary between manufacturing batches.
Zinc plating is generally suitable for indoor, automotive and moderately exposed environments. It should not be treated as equivalent to stainless steel or hot-dip galvanising for marine or highly corrosive conditions.

Installation Advice
Confirm whether the mating component requires an M12 x 1.5 or M12 x 1.25 thread before installation. Attempting to fit the wrong pitch can damage both the screw and the internal thread.
Use a suitable 19mm spanner or socket. Tightening torque depends on the selected pitch, joint design, nut strength, lubrication, coating and required clamp load. Use the equipment manufacturer’s specified torque rather than a general value where the application is safety-critical.
Terminology
In UK fastener terminology, a hexagon head set screw is a headed fastener that is fully threaded. It should not be confused with a headless socket set screw, which is more commonly called a grub screw.
