Product Description
Metric coarse carbon steel taps available individually in 1st taper, 2nd intermediate and 3rd bottoming passes. These UK made hand taps are suitable for standard metric coarse threads and are mainly used for cleaning, restoring and chasing existing internal threads.
Choose from a wide range of metric coarse sizes from M2 to M24, with common thread pitches including M3 x 0.5, M4 x 0.7, M5 x 0.8, M6 x 1, M8 x 1.25, M10 x 1.5 and M12 x 1.75. The 1st taper tap is used to start the thread, the 2nd intermediate tap follows on, and the 3rd bottoming tap is used to finish close to the bottom of a blind hole.
Carbon steel taps are a practical choice for cleaning out damaged or dirty threads in general workshop, engineering, automotive, maintenance and repair work. For cutting new threads, especially in tougher materials or regular production use, high speed steel taps are recommended.
