M10 A2 Stainless Steel Mushroom Head Coach Bolts – DIN 603

These M10 coach bolts are manufactured from A2 austenitic stainless steel and feature a shallow mushroom head with a square neck beneath it. The square neck locates in the workpiece and helps prevent the bolt from turning while a nut is tightened from the opposite side.

Also known as carriage bolts or cup square bolts, they are suitable for timber-to-timber, timber-to-metal and suitable metal-to-metal assemblies. The smooth, drive-free head provides a neat finish with no exposed screwdriver or socket recess.

Installation Guidance

Insert the bolt through a correctly sized clearance hole and tighten a compatible M10 nut from the threaded end. In timber, the square neck can pull into the material and resist rotation. For metal components, use a suitable square hole or prepared recess to locate the neck.

Do not attempt to turn the smooth mushroom head with pliers or grips. Use a washer beneath the nut where required to distribute the clamping load and protect the mating surface.

Thread coverage may vary according to bolt length and manufacturing standard. Check the required plain-shank and threaded lengths where their position within the joint is important.

A2 stainless steel offers good general corrosion resistance but is not normally the first choice for persistent saltwater, swimming-pool or severe chloride exposure. A4 stainless steel is generally more suitable for those environments.
