Product Description
4.8mm Steel/Steel Heavy Duty Open-End Pop Rivets
These 4.8mm blind pop rivets feature a steel rivet body and steel break mandrel with a zinc-plated finish. Their all-steel construction provides greater strength and resistance to deformation than comparable aluminium-body rivets, making them suitable for demanding sheet-metal, fabrication and general engineering applications.
The open-end blind-rivet design allows components to be fastened permanently where access is available from only one side of the assembly. The standard dome head—described as a protruding head in ISO terminology—provides a neat finish and distributes the clamping load across the surrounding material.
Key Features
- Nominal rivet diameter: 4.8mm
- Approximate imperial diameter: 3/16 inch
- Available lengths: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, 25mm and 30mm
- Rivet body material: steel
- Mandrel material: steel
- Finish: zinc plated
- Head style: standard dome or protruding head
- Open-end blind-rivet construction
- Stronger than comparable aluminium-body rivets
- Suitable for installation from one side of the workpiece
Select a rivet whose stated grip range includes the total combined thickness of the materials being joined. Prepare a clean 4.9mm installation hole and use a riveting tool with sufficient capacity for 4.8mm all-steel blind rivets.
Typical Applications
- Steel sheet and panel fabrication
- Automotive bodywork and repairs
- Machinery guards and equipment housings
- Metal brackets, cabinets and enclosures
- Commercial vehicle and trailer panels
- Ventilation and ducting assemblies
- General engineering and maintenance work
Applicable Standards
ISO 15979 and its identical British adoption, BS EN ISO 15979, cover open-end blind rivets with break-pull mandrels, protruding heads, steel bodies and steel mandrels in nominal diameters from 2.4mm up to and including 6.4mm.
DIN 7337 is the related withdrawn legacy standard for break-mandrel blind rivets. It has been replaced by material- and head-specific EN ISO standards, with DIN EN ISO 15979 applying to this steel-body and steel-mandrel combination.
Compliance with these standards should only be stated where the product's dimensions, materials, tolerances, finish and mechanical properties have been verified against the relevant standard.
Please note that specifications are provided as a guide. Check all critical dimensions, grip requirements, tool capacity and corrosion requirements before ordering.
