M12 Metric Fine Class 12.9 Self-Colour Socket Cap Set Screws

These M12 metric fine socket cap set screws are manufactured from high-tensile class 12.9 steel and feature a fully threaded shank. They are available with either an M12 x 1.5mm fine thread or an M12 x 1.25mm extra-fine thread.

The cylindrical cap head incorporates a 10mm internal hexagon socket for installation using an Allen key or hex bit. Their fine thread provides precise adjustment and increased thread engagement over a given axial distance compared with a standard M12 x 1.75mm coarse thread.

These screws use the traditional DIN 912 socket cap head pattern. DIN 912 has been replaced by ISO 4762 for standard coarse-pitch socket head cap screws; however, these fine-pitch versions should be described as having DIN 912 / ISO 4762 pattern head dimensions rather than claiming complete ISO 4762 conformity.

Installation Guidance

Check the required thread pitch before ordering. M12 x 1.5mm, M12 x 1.25mm and standard M12 x 1.75mm threads are not interchangeable. Attempting to fit the wrong pitch can damage both components.

Install using a correctly fitting 10mm hexagon key or socket bit. Tightening torque should be selected according to the thread pitch, lubrication, mating material, thread engagement and requirements of the assembly.

Self-colour steel does not have the corrosion protection provided by zinc plating or stainless steel. A suitable oil, grease, protective coating or controlled dry environment may be required to reduce surface corrosion.
