Product Description
4.8mm A2 Stainless Steel Sealed Dome Head Blind Rivets
Closed-end 4.8mm blind rivets featuring an A2 stainless steel body and A2 stainless steel mandrel. Their sealed body construction helps restrict the passage of moisture, air and contaminants through the centre of the installed rivet.
Also known as sealed pop rivets or closed-end blind rivets, they can be installed where access is available from only one side of the assembly. Available body lengths range from 8mm to 20mm, covering material grip thicknesses from 0.5mm to 12mm.

Available Sizes and Grip Ranges
| Rivet Diameter | Body Length | Head Diameter | Minimum Grip | Maximum Grip | Recommended Hole Size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4.8mm | 8mm | 10.1mm | 0.5mm | 3mm | 4.9mm |
| 4.8mm | 9.5mm | 10.1mm | 3mm | 5mm | 4.9mm |
| 4.8mm | 12mm | 10.1mm | 5mm | 6.5mm | 4.9mm |
| 4.8mm | 16mm | 10.1mm | 6.5mm | 9mm | 4.9mm |
| 4.8mm | 20mm | 10.1mm | 9mm | 12mm | 4.9mm |
The grip range is the combined thickness of all materials being fastened. Select a rivet whose stated minimum and maximum grip range contains the total assembly thickness.
Standards Information
This product type corresponds with BS EN ISO 16585:2002, which covers closed-end blind rivets with a pull mandrel, protruding head, A2 stainless steel body and stainless steel mandrel.
Dimensions and specifications should be treated as a guide unless conformity is supported by the manufacturer’s documentation or inspection certification.
How Sealed Blind Rivets Work
The rivet is inserted through a correctly sized hole and set using a suitable blind-rivet installation tool. As the mandrel is pulled, the closed end of the rivet body expands behind the workpiece and clamps the materials together. The mandrel then breaks at its designed point.
The closed-end construction reduces the direct passage through the centre of the rivet compared with an open-end blind rivet. However, a sealed rivet does not automatically make the complete joint waterproof or pressure-tight. Hole condition, surface finish, installation quality and any additional sealing compound will affect the finished joint.
Typical Applications
- Outdoor equipment and enclosures
- Vehicle bodywork and trailers
- Electrical cabinets and control boxes
- Roofing, cladding and sheet-metal fabrication
- Marine and coastal equipment
- Food-processing and clean-environment equipment
- Ventilation and ducting systems
- Assemblies exposed to moisture or contamination
Installation Advice
Drill or punch a clean 4.9mm hole and remove any burrs before installation. Ensure that the selected grip range matches the total material thickness and that the mating surfaces are drawn together before setting the rivet.
A2 stainless steel body and mandrel rivets require more setting force than comparable aluminium rivets. Use a hand, pneumatic or battery riveter specifically rated for 4.8mm stainless steel blind rivets.
Where a genuinely watertight or pressure-resistant joint is required, use an appropriate sealant and validate the finished assembly under its intended service conditions.
