Product Description
M16 Grade 10.9 Zinc-Plated Hexagon Head Bolts – DIN 931
These M16 hexagon-head bolts are manufactured from high-tensile grade 10.9 steel, finished with zinc plating and dimensionally manufactured to DIN 931. They are partially threaded, leaving an unthreaded shank for locating components and carrying shear loads through the bolted joint.
Each bolt has a standard M16 coarse metric thread with a 2mm pitch and a 24mm hexagon head. Grade 10.9 provides higher tensile and proof strength than the commonly used grade 8.8, making these bolts suitable for demanding engineering and structural assemblies.
Bolt length is measured from directly beneath the hexagon head to the end of the bolt. Nuts and washers are not included unless stated separately.
Typical Applications
- Heavy machinery and industrial equipment
- Automotive and commercial vehicle assemblies
- Structural steelwork and fabrication
- Agricultural and construction machinery
- Plant maintenance and high-load engineering joints

The zinc-plated finish provides moderate protection against corrosion in dry indoor and general industrial environments. It is not equivalent to hot-dip galvanising or stainless steel and may require additional protection in exposed, coastal or chemically aggressive conditions.
For safety-critical or highly loaded joints, use compatible property-class nuts and hardened washers and follow the equipment manufacturer's specified tightening procedure. Torque values depend on lubrication, coating, joint design and the required preload.
