Product Description
5/16"-24 UNF A2 Stainless Steel Countersunk Slotted Machine Screws
These 5/16"-24 UNF machine screws are manufactured from corrosion-resistant A2 stainless steel and feature a traditional slotted drive with a flat countersunk head. When installed into a correctly formed countersink, the head can sit flush with the surrounding surface for a neat, low-profile finish.
The fine-pitch UNF thread offers a greater number of engaged threads than the equivalent UNC size, making these fully threaded screws suitable for machinery, automotive assemblies, restoration work and general engineering applications.
Product Specifications
- Thread size: 5/16"-24 UNF
- Nominal diameter: 5/16 inch / 7.94mm
- Thread pitch: 24 TPI / approximately 1.058mm
- Material: A2 stainless steel
- Head style: Flat countersunk head
- Drive type: Slotted
- Thread series: Unified National Fine
- Thread coverage: Fully threaded
- Nominal countersink angle: 82°
- Finish: Natural stainless steel
- Applicable dimensional standard: ASME B18.6.3-2024
- Thread standards: ASME B1.1 and BS 1580-1:2007
Length measurement: Countersunk machine screw lengths are measured from the top of the head to the end of the thread. The stated length therefore includes the head.
Typical Applications
- Machinery and equipment assembly
- Automotive and motorcycle restoration
- Panels, brackets and enclosures
- Electrical and engineering equipment
- Marine and outdoor assemblies
- Flush-fitting components and covers
Installation Information
Install using a correctly sized flat-bladed screwdriver and a matching 5/16"-24 UNF nut or tapped hole. These screws are not compatible with 5/16"-18 UNC components because the two thread series have different pitches.
Stainless steel threads can gall or seize during installation, particularly when tightened quickly or under high loads. A suitable anti-seize compound is recommended where repeated assembly or higher tightening loads are expected.
