Product Description
M8 x 1 Grade 8.8 Yellow Zinc Metric Fine Hexagon Head Set Screws
Fully threaded M8 x 1 hexagon head set screws manufactured from property class 8.8 high-tensile steel with a yellow zinc-plated finish. The 1mm pitch is finer than the standard M8 coarse thread and is intended for components specifically threaded M8 x 1.
These DIN 961-pattern fasteners are available in 25mm and 40mm lengths. Their external hexagon head can be installed using a standard 13mm spanner or socket, with pack quantities available from 1 to 1,000.

Available Sizes
| Thread Size | Thread Pitch | Length | Width Across Flats | Head Height |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M8 | 1mm | 25mm | 13mm | 5.3mm |

Fastener length is measured from beneath the hexagon head to the end of the threaded section. Dimensions are nominal and should be confirmed if critical to the assembly.
Standards Information
This product is listed as a DIN 961 fully threaded hexagon head screw with an M8 x 1 metric fine thread. The corresponding current British and international dimensional standard is BS EN ISO 8676:2022.
Property class 8.8 mechanical requirements are covered by BS EN ISO 898-1:2013.
Check the thread using a pitch gauge or confirm the equipment manufacturer’s specification before ordering. Do not rely on the 8mm nominal diameter alone.
Yellow Zinc-Plated Finish
The yellow zinc-plated finish provides greater resistance to surface corrosion than untreated steel and gives the fastener its characteristic yellow or gold appearance. Colour and shade may vary between manufacturing batches.
Zinc plating is generally suitable for indoor, automotive and moderately exposed applications. It should not be considered equivalent to stainless steel or hot-dip galvanising in marine or highly corrosive environments.
Typical Applications
- Automotive engines, gearboxes and braking components
- Motorcycles and specialist vehicles
- Agricultural and construction machinery
- Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
- Machine building and industrial maintenance
- Equipment originally designed for M8 x 1 threads
- Engineering repairs and restoration projects
Installation Advice
Confirm that the mating nut or tapped component has an M8 x 1 thread. Attempting to install this screw into an M8 x 1.25 coarse thread can damage both components.
Install using a suitable 13mm spanner or socket. Tightening torque depends on the joint design, mating-thread strength, lubrication, coating and required clamp load. Follow the equipment manufacturer’s specified torque for safety-critical assemblies.
